Socket and pull switch

Oil on panel, 15cm wide x 22cm tall.

This picture shows a light pull string and mains socket. The bottom quarter of the image is taken by the floor and the skirting board. The floor is is a very dark brown, seemingly stained floorboards, that run between us and the wall. Above them is the skirting board, painted white.

The remainder of the image is occupied by the wall above the skirting. It is a chestnut mushroom colour. There is a mains socket set into the wall, a standard UK 240v type that appears to be switched off It is down in the bottom right corner, but with a good margin right and beneath it.

Hanging down into the image is a pull light switch. It is white and seems to have a frayed, though knotted end. It casts a shadow on the wall, indicating that the light source is to the right of the string and high up.
