Trifle
Oil on canvas panel, 22cm wide x 15cm tall.
Here we see a round-bottom, clear glass bowl containing a trifle. The bowl appears to sit on a shiney white work top, for the bowl and it's contents are reflected on the surface. The bowl is set a little to the right of centre in the image.
The main body of the trifle is a rich cherry red which is pierced by Italian sponge fingers. The sponge fingers (twelve in all) stand upright equally spaced around the trifle. On top of the red base is a layer of pale yellow custard and atop that a layer of cream.
